Aimed at sixth form with M5 (Year 10) and U5 (Year 11) also welcome, we've arranged a film night in our sixth form centre this time next week.
If your child is in these year groups, pop it (no pun intended) into their calendar so they can watch two families plot a daring escape using... a homemade hot-air balloon to flee East Germany during the Cold War. Based on a true story.

Our pupil, L/Cpl Abigail, U5 RAF Section and i/c Team 2 writes about her experiences on the Nitex expedition recently:
"Upon arriving on Woodbury Common, we had a briefing on a rescue mission to set out our assignment for the night. After an introduction to set the scene for the night’s ...events, we sat with our teams and had our ration packs. The food was surprisingly tasty and filled us up.
Before the main event, we started off with some lessons to work on skills to help us prepare for the NitEx event. These skills consisted of camouflage, map reading, field signals, observation, and keeping direction at night and were enjoyed by all of the M5 and U5.
For the main event, we got sorted into our teams while myself and all the other team leaders received our first set of coordinates. For my team, we actually ended up going in the complete wrong direction at the start, but soon realised and corrected ourselves.
Then, after finding the right way to the first checkpoint (without being caught by the sixth formers), we received our first task. After completing all the tasks, while getting caught a few times by the sixth formers, we started to make our way back to base camp to free the captive. My team was definitely feeling the pressure as we had a tight five minutes to crack the code that stood between us and victory. Once we successfully cracked the code, we celebrated with some well-earned drinks and snacks for everyone, and a special prize for the NitEx winners.
I feel I can confidently speak for everyone when I say that NitEx is the highlight of the RAF calendar, and I was ecstatic to win this year’s NitEx with the help of my winning team members."

On 23 March, the Economics Society welcomed Ben Edwards, Callum Fox Lang and Kieran Cook from Albion Strategic Consulting, a financial advice firm based here in Exeter.
Ben — a self proclaimed “investing nerd” with a passion for evidence based investing — shared insights into long... term investment strategies and why they consistently outperform attempts to outsmart the market. The team guided pupils through complex economic ideas, including the Efficient Market Hypothesis and the challenges investors face when trying to beat market efficiency.
It was an engaging and thought provoking session that also offered a glimpse into potential future careers in finance.
A huge thank you to Gracie, Co President of the Economics Society, for organising the event 👏

Every year, a favourite in the calendar for Exeter Junior School pupils is the 'Make £5 grow' @virginmoney project. Here, Mr Adam Cunningham, Head of Junior School Mathematics and Upper Two Form Tutor, who heads up the project each year, gives us a run-through of what it entails and how ...hard the pupils work. With much tenacity and plenty of giggles, our pupils advocate their 'businesses'.
Raising £1531.60 for our 2026 charities - @nspcc_official @infocus_charity @moortrees - was an added bonus.

Exeter Junior School's team is doing an amazing job in the international @primarycodingleague currently, coming in 9th - well done to the Executioners! This is quite a challenge due to the various programming languages you have to use for each task and remember, these are our younger pupils ...taking part.
A huge thank you to Mrs Morgan for all her support in inspiring our pupils to aspire and flourish across the globe.

Recently, a group of Year 11 chemistry pupils researched a topic of their choice and presented their work in the form of scientific posters at an academic conference. Staff and pupils came to view the posters while the group discussed their research. The standard of the entries was excellent and ...the topics were diverse from the medicinal properties of bee venom, chemiluminescence, the chemistry of modern warfare, water cremation and artificial sweeteners.
We've included a few of the posters in these pictures but head over to our News posts on our website if you'd like to see more 🤓

With many of you probably making your way through Easter chocolates, Alec Bourne, sous chef at Exeter School, talks to us here about how important our food choices are when it comes to fuelling our bodies for the activities we're undertaking during the school day. After the sports gala dinner last Friday, some pupils headed straight out again the same night to take on the 1633 Challenge on Dartmoor. We heard from pupils who had helped out their classmates by pitching both sets of tents for their fellow late arrivals - their service and collaboration virtues ...working well there.
This important event allows us to recognise the commitment, effort and progress shown by all pupils involved in @armytentors training, including those who may not be able to take part in the final event itself because of the limited number of places. It is a reminder that character is built as much in preparation and perseverance as in participation. It is also a memory that many Exonians hold dear - @exeterschool_alumni . Well done everyone. We hope you're putting your feet up this Sunday 😊

🥚The Lower Sixth Psychology pupils have just completed their much anticipated 'eggsperiment'. 🥚
The 'eggsperiment' in psychology is a popular, hands-on educational project for pupils to understand developmental, attachment, and developmental psychology. ...Participants raise a decorated raw egg as a "child" for 1–2 weeks, documenting care to experience the responsibilities, emotional attachment, and challenges of parenting.
We hope the bonds have started well and that no one has forgotten eggs in lockers and we look forward to their presentations after Easter. I wonder if we'll get any interesting photos of them on days out with their 'babies'? 🤔

Back towards the end of November, we posted pictures of our junior school pupils in the paddock gardens with the help of our grounds team, educating them about essential bulb planting skills.
Those same pupils came back last week to help Mr Lee cut and prepare bouquets carefully tagged ...and then went to teachers who had been instrumental in helping with some big events in their lives recently to share some smiles and say thank you.
Perfect feeling for a Good Friday post 😁
House relays involving pupils from each year group in the senior school took place on Tuesday lunchtime. Great fun, lots of tired legs and a win for Dowrich House 👏🏻🏆

🏏Free professional learning event for sport coaches - spread the word⚽️
We are delighted to be partnering with Leeds Beckett University to host a Knowledge Exchange Event at Exeter School, bringing together school-based practitioners for a collaborative day focused on long-term ...athletic development (LTAD) in schools.
This free professional learning event invites PE teachers, sport coaches, athletic development coaches and directors of sport to connect, share practice and explore how schools can create joined-up, sustainable athletic development programmes that support every young person. Across the day, delegates will move from theory into practice through a carefully structured programme of discussion, workshops and practical sessions, designed to support the creation of a shared vision across PE, sport and strength and conditioning.
Participants will explore how schools can work more collaboratively to strengthen long-term athletic development, while addressing key challenges such as workload balance and the demands placed on both staff and students. The event will also highlight innovative and collaborative approaches to athletic development, encouraging practitioners to share ideas, challenge current practice and develop practical solutions that can be implemented within their own school environments.
